I am good at. Connecting people. In all my changing personal and diverse professional experience - consultant, lawyer, teacher, musician and more - I have found bringing people together is more art than science. The unique interactions and potential for new experiences that occur with different combinations never ceases to amaze me.

I enjoy. Problem solving. There is great excitement for me solving challenges (the harder the better). The pleasure comes from freeing up creativity and combining the elements that contribute to the process - mix of people, accumulated knowledge, time and place - to discover something entirely new.

I wish I was better at. Everything. I experience learning like the race horse game from the
show ground stall I played as a child; each horse is going at its own best speed some further ahead than others but all with a way to go. This means that even the things I'm already good I can be better, and the things I am yet to begin possess great opportunity. After all, the more we know the more we realise we don't know.

Born in. 1970s. Impact on me is the power of freedom of thought and a rebellious spirit.

Grew up in. Australia. Impact on me is the connection with the land, as a child this was the rainforests of Far North Queensland.

Lived in. Australia. United States. Switzerland. Impact on me is the value of experiencing different cultures and perspectives.

I am good at. Encouraging transformative ideas.  Colleagues, friends and business associates come to me for good ideas - the things that stand out, the "signature items" that transcend the shelf-life of of any one project. I am also good at strategising and crafting narratives. Without an intriguing story, nothing else really matters. Moreover, I am all about empowerment. To encourage transformative ideas has been the overarching them of my work as an advisor, academic and author.

I enjoy. Ingenuity. I think it is the most valuable asset of an organisation. My goal is to tap into this potential. I believe that the logic of collaboration has shifted fundamentally. Rather than downloading knowhow and advice, the new generation of partnering projects will be all about shaping contexts and platforms that give people the opportunity to be creative, lead their organisations though change and evolve personally at the same time.

I am also an avid runner. Over fish and chips at the University of London, the decision to run the '96 London Marathon sounded like a great idea. And it was - 25 finishes later, I am more passionate about this race than ever. In 2020, I completed it together with my 2-year old daughter in the jogging stroller - cannot wait to lace my racing flats for the next one!

Born in. 1970s. I am impacted by and cherish the fact that there was a sense of simplicity and living in the moment. There was not so much media distraction and information overload.

Grew up in. Germany. I am impacted by and relate to both the German no-nonsense work style and the playfulness of having no upper speed limit on the Autobahn.

Lived in. Germany. China. United Kingdom. Impact on me is a blend of can-do dynamism from Asia with the insights gained from Europe. Having lived and worked several years abroad, I believe that relations and interactions are less influenced by country cultures than by individual personal cultures (if there are differences at all).

I am good at. My diverse background and has often allowed me to unknot situations by building bridges amongst stakeholders and acting as a ‘cultural’ translator.

I enjoy. I am passionate about analysing a context, the process of collaborative problem solving and envisioning, with creativity and innovation from various perspectives, and facilitate or execute the implementation. I have experience in working at the intersection of different disciplines, driving change though collaboration in transversal projects in complex environments.

I wish I was better at. Speaking Swiss German.

Born in the 70s. Impact on me is the power of human connections and interactions.

Grew up in Barcelona. Impact on me is on the avant-guarde design and creativity in architecture, design and urbanism of the city. More recently, on the sustainable and smart city orientation of the city.

Lived in. Mauritius, France, United States, Switzerland, Morocco, Japan, Oman, UK. Impact on me is on the harmony and diversity of Mauritius. So many cultures blended on a tiny island. It is like a miniature world.

I am good at. Giving advice without judging. Colleagues and friends ask me for advice in tricky situations. Finding new ideas, thinking, writing, improving, participating. I am into details, but I need the holistic view too. When I commit to something, I do it well and to the end.

I enjoy.
Freedom in a structured environment. Sharing with others. Recognition.

I wish I was better at.
Well… a lot of things: languages, digital skills, piano, sports. I tend to think I can learn everything!

Born in. 1970s.
Impact on me is the birth and development of technologies… in a positive and negative way – I have tech’ children now.

Grew up in.
Switzerland. Impact on me is: in 5 minutes you walk to the lake, in 20 minutes you drive to the mountains, or you cross the border. Everything is close by.

Lived in.
Switzerland and Vietnam and spent a lot of time in Italy with my grandmother. Impact on me is when you do not speak the same language as others - also in a metaphorical meaning, you are kind of lost.

Fun fact.
I am a sailor… without sailing licence. It is really time to get it! My target for 2021

I am good at. Thinking in a holistic manner and playing devil’s advocate. I am also a good listener and value diverse perspectives when coming to a conclusion.

I enjoy.
Learning new activities and discovering new cultures. Problem-solving has been a key aspect of my education, especially as a sustainability student, where we have been pushed to take on a systemic approach to our projects. This process is most fruitful in groups where I can learn and be challenged by my peers’ differing opinions.

Born in. 1990s. I cherish the advancement of multiculturalism, a movement that deeply molded my upbringing. I also value the technological progress which followed from the 1990s and the endless opportunities that are derived from it.

Grew up in.
France, Switzerland, the U.A.E. I consider myself a part of the ‘international culture’ as I quickly learnt that it is a culture of its own.

Lived in.
India. United Kingdom. Netherlands. Switzerland. Luxembourg. Impact on me is the ability to see beyond national culture and  truly understand what drives those around you. Yes, culture does play a role but it cannot be extrapolated to the extent that a magical one fits all formula can be developed.

Fun fact. R
ecreational scuba diver. Initially intrigued by the sport at nine-years of age in Jordan, little did I know that it would soon become my favourite activity. Although not the easiest to pursue on the regular, when it’s time for holiday, expect to find me under water.  To me diving is a magical experience where you can be one with nature and with yourself. As someone that has always struggled to meditate, and believe me I have tried, diving is the time where I can enjoy the present and observe nature’s wonders. It has been a little while since my last dive but obtaining my Dive Master is on the bucket list and I cannot wait!
